Web Hi-Liter

Many a website gets designed ("developed" seems hardly appropriate in these cases) with scarcely a thought as to the actual point of the exercise - it just gets done, and those "little" details like what it's all about, who is it aimed at, how it's intended audience is to find it, what results are to be expected - they all seem to be an annoying afterthought.
Basically if it looks good (on the customer's computer at least - to hell with the other users it was not tested for) then it IS good. Well, if you were one of the unfortunate victims of this attitude (or just plain incompetence), you probably have a very poor impression of the Internet in general, and little faith in its potential.

However, help is at hand... We were seeing large numbers of these decent-looking, but poorly-planned projects, whose owners were decidedly at a loss as to why their website was not delivering. So with this in mind, we have developed a special programme to make sure that your website DOES get noticed, your website DOES actually provide a return on your investment. After all, the Web offers so much potential advantage to businesses large and small that to ignore it or not get it right is NOT acceptable, to us at least!

What is the Web Hi-liter programme about?

Stage 1 - Consultation: Firstly, we will discuss the aims of your website - what it was set up for, what sort of visitors you need and expect, what message you wish to get across; we will try to understand you, your business, it's present needs and possible future opportunities to be exploited, and even supply some ideas of our own. Then, we put ourselves in the position of the persons YOU wish to reach out to. And see if we can reconcile what they need with what you wish to supply. That done, we move to stage two:

Stage 2 - Evaluation: We then take a critical look at what is there already, seeing what isn't quite right, looking far beyond what is visible to a thousand and one other factors and subjects which would need a whole book to cover properly. (Search-engine positioning and website promotion is a science in itself, with companies set up specifically to handle these needs, and large corporations spending literally millions to this end. So if you think, or someone tells you, that it's easy, think again!)

Stage 3 - Reporting: We will then report on our findings, and suggest what changes need to be made. Some changes required will be quite straightforward, others more involving. Occasionally, nothing short of a total re-work will suffice; but normally there is no need for such drastic action, unless the design is very badly flawed. We will then discuss what you wish done, and advise as to the expected effectiveness of each change. YOU subsequently decide which route to take.

Stage 4 - Action: Based on the outcome of our reporting, and the decisions you take, we will execute all the tasks required, bearing in mind the issues discussed in stage 1.

Stage 5 - Finalising: Once the website has been re-developed/set up correctly, it will be submitted to all major international and local search engines and directories for inclusion/ re-ranking within their databases. While this is time consuming to get right, come this far, it is probably the easiest bit (unlike what others would have you believe!). Website submission is an ongoing process, with results not being immediately noticed with most online search facilities, but some others DO give quick results. So the effect of the changes will become more noticeable after a few weeks - more visitors, more interest in the site, more business generated.

Stage 6 - Recommended: However, website submission is not the be-all and end-all of website promotion - other avenues should also be explored, such as conventional and online advertising, in various forms; banner advertising programs, mailshots, etc. Periodic re-submission is also important, since listings are often dropped after some time, for various reasons. We can discuss these options also, liaise with service providers, and handle all needs on both a technical and design level, thus leaving you free to concentrate on doing what you do best - running your own business!
